No. I won’t.
No, I can hear you perfectly well from where I am. You may say I’m up a tree without a paddle. But you can skedaddle. Just how much use do you suppose a paddle is in a tree, eh?
I can see for miles and miles and miles. As many coconuts as I can eat. And no bear’s going to get me. Jagulars maybe. Strorny good droppers, jagulars, as Pooh remarked. But not bears. You, on the other hand, are extremely vulnerable to roving ursines.
So, which of us would you say is crazy?
Friday fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a 100-word story in response to a photo prompt. You can find other stories at the link below
Yeah, good question. Lovely story, Neil

I had to google ‘jagular’! Good fun. As to the question posed, could it be a draw – both as crazy as each other?

Thanks Iain. Some of my literary references can be obscure. But, in my defence, I did include Pooh in the story.

Dear Neil,
I’ll see your Jagular and raise you a rotary phone. .;) Cute take on the prompt.

Herd of heffalumps? Of course I’ve heard of heffalumps! (Ba-dum Tish…)

An inspired take on the photo prompt. I too had to google Jagular – I never read Winnie the Pooh.

You must. Immediately. It’s the wisest book in the English language. Take a trip now to the Hundred Aker Wood

I always look forward to reading your Friday Fictioneers stories, and the title of this one made it even more enticing. After all, what could bears have to do with the prompt?
And the story is a delight, with its whimsical debate as to who is craziest, and its references to Winnie the Pooh. Lovely writing, Neil!

I do like a story that sends me to the dictionary and then on to YouTube for a Pooh Bear clip about jagulars.

I found myself lost while reading this weeks post. I suppose I am not as intelligent as my fellow readers. Perhaps I will learn if I stay a bit longer.

I loved this whimsical story and, of course, your reference to Pooh. No person is crazy if they live by Pooh’s rules. Your character has all they need; food, a view, and a safe place from Jagulars ” (Heffalumps and Woozles too I bet).

I think I have some reading to do, haven’t read Winnie the Pooh either. If you don’t know the context, it does sound crazy indeed. 🙂

I think even if you do know the context you might legitimately doubt the strength of his grip on reality

Pooh is very close to my heart and if he’s the bear your character is worried about i think he’ll be fine, unless of course he has hunny. Im feeling rumbly in my tumbly.

It’s always hard to tell what my characters are worrying about but I think he’s merged Pooh with a touch of grizzly

Wonderful story. I so enjoyed the Pooh allusion. My grandson was such a fan when he was little – I Ioved reading the Pooh stories to him. And as for crazy – maybe we all need a little of that craziness.
