Friday Fictioneers – Elementary

PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

See this here? “Favour”, not “favor”. This guy’s in the UK. How do I know it’s a guy? Lots of clues, but the way he describes women’s the clincher.

Holmes, you say? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Well-educated—”prestidigitation”, for example. Not an arts degree. From the language precision and the numeracy, I’d say science. Maybe an accountant, and in the north east of England–he says “pet” like a Geordie. And, of course, he’s cheating on his wife. You can learn so much from people’s social media.

He likes to walk in these woods. Go, bring him in.

Friday fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a 100-word story in response to a photo prompt. You can find other stories here

  1. I would love their job. It’s perfect for a nosey person. Or I prefer to say ‘inquisitive’. Someone fell for his gentle Geordie accent then? But he’s dumb enough to get caught by social media. Hope he didn’t write Living My Best Life under the pics – if he did I have no sympathy for him.

  2. Very clever. I like what you did here. With the wealth of personal information out there on the socials, Sherlock wouldn’t have to use his renowned logic very much at all. I’m interested – ‘the way he describes women’? Anything more to offer here? Or should I just use my imagination?

      1. Truth. I was a high school English and history teacher in the days just before everyone had a phone. Back then, they wrote notes to each other on paper, which were easily intercepted and made public by other students. Some things never change 🙂
