It had seemed such a good idea. A bottle of wine, a group of friends, a drive in the snow to the hot springs—what could go wrong? Skinny dipping—that’s what. Rob’s body’s better than mine, if you like the buff, chiseled look.
Everyone says I’m lucky. That means Lisa’s way out of my league. There’s going to be drinking, and horseplay, and then fooling around. And Lisa will rejoin her league.
“Hey, guys. I’ll go search for some wood and build a fire. It’ll be cold when we get out.”
Leadership. Yes, that’s the thing. Lisa respects initiative.

Dear Neil,
That buff chiseled look is highly overrated. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger today. 😉

That may be of considerable comfort to my protagonist

It’s all in doing what you are comfortable with. I think he’s made a wise choice.

Smart guy. He knows what the object of his affections truly likes 🙂

Never have liked the buff chiseled look, personally! Great take on the prompt and a wise decision to fetch the firewood! In case this comes up as anonymous, it’s Clare Hempstead. It’s been so long since I have been here, I haven’t mastered the technology again yet!

His whole gamble turns on that, but it’s all he’s got

Bottle of wine yes, skinny dipping no – or chubby dipping as it would be in my case!

I’m with you. Though a hot spring in winter is a lovely thing

Neil, I like the wry humor in this. Like you said, it’s a gamble but it’s all he’s got.

What a conundrum! Group skinny dipping seems like a recipe for all kinds of trouble.

What he needs is a big dose of self-confidence because THAT is what a worthy potential mate will see above and beyond the ripped abs (which often come with an empty brain). Plus, going out to get the wood is a good way to go, too!
Nicely done, Neil.

He may not have the chiseled body, but he’s one smart fella!

Maybe. He’s not at all sure

Oh dear. He is certainly self conscious. I get that. And buff or chiselled doesn’t tend to stay buff and chiselled anyway. Hopefully Lisa is the staying sort.

I fear Lisa may be a bit flighty

Skinny dipping should be enjoyed solo or with one partner; group skinny dipping will only lead to jealousy, feelings of inadequacy and bitterness. Besides, I don’t trust Lisa. Good read, Neil.

Thanks, Nancy. You are probably wise not to trust Lisa

Meanwhile, Rob’s getting a head start. Removing himself seems like a bad strategy. Hopefully, the warm fire when they get out helps him make up the slack.

It all depends really on how superficial Lisa is

Lisa should value initiative and the ability to keep the fire going. Great story and good luck to the main character. 🙂
